This project seeks to foster the human resources of the Pacific island nations by offering promising students from the region opportunities to study at Japanese universities. This year, three students―one each from Micronesia, Kiribati, and Fiji―were award- ed scholarships to study in the economics department of Asia University. Although one of the students had to repeat the year―prompting organizers to make a renewed commitment to ensuring the well-being of all students on the program―the other two advanced smoothly to the next stage of their studies.
