FY1995

Japanese Language Course Development Project

Project contents
In order to help meet the growing demand for Japanese language education in Pacific island communities, this project supports the efforts of the University of the South Pacific to build up a comprehensive Japanese language major. This year, courses were offered in four levels of proficiency and attracted a diverse range of students, including tour guides and other working people as well as regular full-time students. In addition, a correspondence-course textbook was produced as a first step toward making Japanese language education available to off-campus students throughout the Pacific islands.
