The Visiting of Delegation of Indian Parliamentarians to Japan
India-Japan Relations: Opportunities and Challenges. (October 9, 2013)
Closed.
Last year marked the sixty-year point of diplomatic relations between Japan and India. In May 2013, His Excellency Dr. Manmohan Singh, the current Prime Minister, made an official visit to Japan. Also, their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan will make an official visit to India in this November as state guests. Moreover, Japan and India have been establishing close relationships in recent years that go beyond diplomatic affairs.

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation has been inviting Indian Parliamentarians to Japan with the purpose of building stronger relations between Japan and India in the private sector. In 2013, we began a new project, “India Japan Strategic Dialogue” in order to accelerate the strategic partnership between the two countries at the private level.

As this year’s mission theme is “Infrastructure and Urban Development”, five parliamentarians both from the Council of States (the Rajya Sabha) and the House of the People (the Lok Sabha) will come to Japan, on 7th October, to visit the government offices and private corporations. With the objective of deepening understanding of Japan and India, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation will host a lecture as described below.
