Project contents
Although Vietnam continues to experience high economic growth, its business management education is still lagging, with MBA courses not paying enough attention to local business situations. This project aims to enhance the research capabilities of both the instructors and graduate students of the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi Agricultural University through the development of MBA teaching materials that reflect Vietnamese business situations. For this purpose a group of business administration experts from East Asian countries was formed to provide lecturers and guide the development of business cases.
This year, Professor Osamu Nariai of Reitaku University was appointed to serve as project advisor. Two workshops on the methodology of business case development were conducted in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi under the guidance of Professor Emeritus Kee Young Kim of South Korea's Yonsei University and Professor Gilbert Yip Wei Tan of Singapore Management University. In addition, the Vietnamese project members carried out a survey of the business community in Vietnam and selected 14 companies appropriate to business case development. From February to March 2007, instructors from both universities visited business schools in Japan, Singapore, and South Korea to observe the business case teaching methodology in MBA programs.
