The Sasakawa Peace Foundation and Sasakawa Middle East Islamic Fund cordially invite you to attend a seminar on the political situation in Egypt on December 2 (Thu). Speaking at the event will be Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Shaker, Chairman of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Mr. Wahib El Miniawy, Member of the Council's Board of Directors.

Dr Shaker is a distinguished diplomat who has held the posts of Deputy Representative of Egypt to the United Nations Security Council, Deputy Permanent Representative of Egypt in the United Nations、Egypt’s Governor on the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Kingdom. He has long worked for nuclear-non-proliferation, disarmament and peaceful uses of nuclear power. At the upcoming seminar, Dr. Shaker will present an Egyptian perspective on his areas of specialty: non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction.

Mr. Wahib El Miniawy, a lawyer by profession, held the posts of the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Peru, then Venezuela, before a term as Egyptian Ambassador to Japan from 1988 to 1993. As a strong proponent of Japan, he has done much to promote good relations between the two countries. Mr. Miniawy will speak on diplomatic relations between Egypt and Japan, now in their 75th year, as well as Egyptian policy toward various issues in the Middle East.
