"New Dynamics of Turkish Foreign Policy"

Invitation to a Lecture Session
"New Dynamics of Turkish Foreign Policy"
by Dr. Ibrahim Kalin, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister of Turkey (January 26, 2011)
Closed.
The Sasakawa Middle East Islam Fund of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation will host a lecture by Dr. Ibrahim Kalin (Chief Advisor to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan) on January 26, 2011.

This is the first visit to Japan for Dr. Kalin, who replaced Minister of Foreign Affairs Dabotour as Chief Advisor for the Turkish Prime Minister. As an aide who directly advises Prime Minister Erdoğan, Dr. Kalin has considerable influence on Turkish foreign policy. He will speak about Turkey's eastern-oriented policies. Through a discussion with Malaysian and Japanese researchers, he will help to deepen the dialogue about the potential for Turkey's Look East policies.

Since taking power, Prime Minister Erdoğan's AK Party has rolled out internal and foreign policies not followed by previous administrations, and is in the process of launching bold reforms. Turkish public and private sectors are taking advantage of a rapidly growing economy to develop new relations with neighbouring states in the Middle East and beyond. This event is a special opportunity to learn about the dynamism of Turkish foreign relations by hearing Dr. Kalin speak about the direction of Turkish foreign relations, in his role as a close aide to Prime Minister Erdoğan.
