In order to keep abreast of the rapidly changing political situation in the Islamic Middle East, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation is currently conducting a lecture series on political movements in the region.

For this lecture, the fifth in the series, Dr. Asgarkhani, an expert in international law from the University of Tehran, has been invited to speak on "Iran’s Domestic Governance and Nuclear Development after the Arab's Spring” on June 1st (Fri) in Tokyo.

Dr. Asgarkhani has a distinguished career as a lawyer dealing with international issues and relations pertaining to Iran, having long acted as advisor to the Iranian national assembly and as a legal counsel to the Iranian Ministry of Oil. In the course of the lecture, he will discuss the impact of the Arab Spring on the Middle East region, as well as its implications for the future, and will examine the questions surrounding Iran's peaceful use of nuclear energy from an expert perspective.
