The Sasakawa Peace Foundation Presents:
a lecture on "Georgia’s Foreign Policy Priorities: Recent Developments" by Dr. Maia Panjikidze, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (May 22, 2013)
Closed.
The Sasakawa Peace Foundation will mark the first visit to Japan of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Dr. Maia Panjikidze, with a lecture.

Foreign Minister Panjikidze's visit, from May 21 to 24, is intended to strengthen ties between Japan and Georgia. At this important time, the minister will deliver a lecture on “Georgia’s Foreign Policy Priorities: Recent Developments'.
In October 2012, in the parliamentary elections, the Georgian Dream opposition coalition, led by Dr. Bidzina Ivanishvili, defeated President Mikheil Saakashvili's UNM (United National Movement) by winning a parliamentary majority with 85 seats. With that result, Dr. Ivanishvili was elected leader, and the Georgian Dream coalition spokesperson and head of its central office Dr. Panjikidze, was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
At this lecture, the foreign policy of Georgia's new administration, including the strained relations with Russia due to the South Ossetia Conflict that occurred under the previous administration, will be addressed, along with the latest information regarding the diplomatic situation in the Caucasus region. In addition, marking the 20th anniversary of bilateral ties between Japan and Georgia in 2012, the lecture will examine the outlook for future relations between the two nations.

We hope you will join us at what promises to be a highly informative event.
