At the invitation of the Sasakawa Middle East Islam Fund, a veteran journalist and expert on Palestine and Extremism in the Middle East, Mr. Mohammed Daraghmeh will give a lecture on Tuesday, 2 June 2015.
The confusion and destabilization of the Middle East have been accelerating, caused by the vast influence of the Islamic extremists that include the so-called "Islamic State (IS)". Mr. Daraghmeh, a senior correspondent of the Associted Press based in Ramallah, has been reporting the Palestinian development for decades with extensive knowledge of the political organizations and Islamic extremists in the region. Mr. Daraghmeh has been writing mainly for Arabic Newspapers on these topics.
In this seminar Mr. Daraghmeh will speak about the recent development of extremists active in the Middle East and their possible impacts on the domestic and external policies of the countries in the Middle East. Mr. Nobuhisa Degawa, Senior Commentator of NHK and an expert on the Middle East, will moderate the Q&A session.
