[Event Report] The International Ocean Human Resource Development Project (100 global youth program for ocean literacy)

The Ocean Policy Research Institute (OPRI) of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation recognizes the urgent need to nurture the next generation of ocean leaders who will be active in 2030 and beyond in order to realize sustainable use of the ocean, and has set a goal of supporting 100 young people over five years starting in 2022.

The International Workshop on Sustainable Blue Economies in the Caribbean Islands and low-lying communities was executed by the Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the University of the West Indies, Five Islands Campus, in Antigua & Barbuda from March 26-28, 2024.

National Seminar On Bangladesh’s First Deep Seaport: Matarbari Heralds a New Vista in the Bay of Bengal Region

The Ocean Policy Research Institute (OPRI), the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF), Japan implemented the research project titled “Bangladesh’s First Deep Seaport: Matarbari Heralds a New Vista in the Bay of Bengal Region”. The project was successfully implemented between October 2023 to March 2024. The national seminar schedule on 19th March 2024 is aimed at sharing the findings with key stakeholders. This seminar will be hosted by OPRI-SPF.

Projects

In order to comprehensively and cross-sectorally respond to various marine problems and issues, we are developing research and think-tank activities from the perspectives of both policy and science, aiming at comprehensive management and sustainable development of the ocean.
