The increasing importance of human knowledge of the ocean invites more focus on applied and practical research. However, we are just beginning to understand the ocean, which could be called the last frontier for discovery. Ocean Shot will provide large-scale support for research leading to discoveries from two perspectives.

The Ocean Policy Research Institute (OPRI), the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Japan implemented the research project titled “Bangladesh’s First Deep Seaport: Matarbari Heralds a New Vista in the Bay of Bengal Region”. The project was successfully implemented between October 2023 to March 2024.

The Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Atsushi Sunami) published a new book in Japanese titled Recreational Use and Management of the Sea: Practices in Japan and China on 31 March 2024.
