Japan-U.S. and Security Studies Unit
National Security and Japan-U.S. Program

Contributing to the creation of peace and a new international order in the face of drastic shifts in the security environment by cooperating with the United States, friends, and partners

At a time when the global security environment is dramatically changing and the United States itself, which has played a central role in the international order, is also in turmoil, it is increasingly important for Japan, the United States, and our friends and partners to cooperate by bringing together a diverse range of experts to openly exchange ideas for regional peace and stability and deepen mutual understanding for the future.

As a part of an independent private think-tank, this program takes a mid- to long-term perspective to promote policy dialogue and joint research based on a close network of experts, with the goal of forming and strengthening a shared hub of information and research made possible by collaboration among Japan, the United States, and our friends and partners.

To contribute to the exploration and development of policy discussions from a neutral standpoint, the program conducts research related to Europe and the Indo-Pacific, current affairs in the United States, and nuclear-related topics including deterrence, arms control, and energy security. We also run the satellite sites such as "International Information Network Analysis (IINA)" and "Insights into Japan-U.S. Relations" to enhance information dissemination.
