Project Outline
As a means to address global climate change, marine protected areas are being established worldwide with the objective of conserving biodiversity and promoting sustainable use of resources. Through an SPF project conducted for two years from FY2010 entitled 'Exploratory Research on Models of a Micronesian Marine Protected Area', the 'Palau Integrated Marine Protected Area Model' was constructed with the objective of creating a sustainable island community. In this project, an attempt will be made to introduce the above model into the Micronesian region, centering on Palau. To achieve this, specialists involved in creating the original model will assist the Foundation in PR activities and the implementation of the model.
