FY2012

Visit to Japan by Chief Ministers of Indian States

Project Outline
With Japan-India relations in the fields of politics, economy and culture becoming ever more important in recent years, the Foundation has been carrying out exchange projects in the political sphere as a means to promote bilateral understanding and cooperation. As part of this effort, the Foundation has conducted exchange programs that target young Indian parliamentarians. With these programs having ended in 2011, this project will expand the traditional scope of invitation of parliamentarians and conduct exchange between heads of the Indian state governments as a means to further build and develop exchange in the political field between Japan and India and promote exchange of human resources at the local level.
In this project, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will select an appropriate Indian state, and then form a delegation headed by the head of that state to visit Japan. The delegation will conduct exchange across a wide range of areas, including political and business circles at the local level in Japan. In addition to promoting mutual understanding between Japan and India in the fields of politics, economy and culture, the project aims to build international networks through local level exchanges.
