Project Outline
In this project, regular research meetings and seminars will be held with Middle Eastern Islamic region specialists from both inside and outside of Japan, in order to identify the political trends and the influence on neighboring countries, with the aim of reviewing the medium- and long-term orientation of activities of the Sasakawa Middle East Islam Fund.
Implementation Plan
The following activities will be implemented during this single-year project.
Expert Committee on Middle Eastern Islamic Countries (8 committee meetings) 
  • The Expert Committee on Middle Eastern Islamic Countries will hold meetings on a regular basis to promote dialogue among specialists about the current situation, current trends, and future trends in this region, including topics relating to security. Outcomes of these discussions will be used when considering the medium- and long-term orientation of activities of the Sasakawa Middle East Islam Fund.
  • Invitation of Middle Eastern specialists to Japan (4 persons)
    In order to deepen dialogue at the expert committee and provide input for consideration of the orientation of future program activities, Western specialists (from United States, United Kingdom, Russia, etc.) in Middle Eastern Islamic issues will be invited to Japan. The specialists will attend expert committee meetings, help to promote deeper dialogue, and offer lectures for the purpose of promoting public understanding about the Middle Eastern Islamic region. Lectures will be made available via channels such as YouTube.
