Takashi Iwata was Research Fellow of Ocean Policy Research Institute, SPF. His research field is animal ecology especially marine mammals such as cetaceans and pinniped using bio-logging method. Bio-logging method which records animal ecologies such as behaviour, distribution, physiology, sound, etc., using data-loggers which are attached on animals have been used to study animal ecology. He has studied about blue whales, humpback whales, Bryde’s whales, Antarctic fur seals, Weddell seals, and more from tropical area to polar regions throughout the world.
