OPRI calls attention to problems facing the oceans and coastal zones caused by ocean warming and acidification, and contributes to international discussions on themes including marine renewable energy utilization, climate-induced migration issues, and overall adaptation to climate change. Participation in the Conferences of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change are also included as activities of OPRI.
