A new movement in global environmental research, including oceans, is Future Earth, a global environmental research framework jointly proposed by a number of international organizations and centering on the International Council for Science (ICSU). This framework aims at the creation of a sustainable society, but is also a stimulus to ocean research, prompting hopes for the creation of a Future Ocean.

I was already late forties when I got my scuba diving license. Until then, even on my yearly trips to Hawaii I had never approached the beach. For me, the ocean had been something like landscape to view from afar. However, in casual opportunity, I got the scuba diving license and my life facing the ocean had started.The fact I found was that to tackle the ocean was not so easy thing. On understanding that, I became even more fascinated by diving.

The job of today's aquarium caretaker is not limited to the care of animals and conducting of shows, but involves a variety of fields, including projects and research for new presentations, wildlife and environmental conservation activities, and educational activities. There is also a call for aquariums to contribute to society through various activities. In order to meet all these needs, each aquarium caretaker needs to put forth his best efforts in his specialty as well as maintain a broad outlook.
