The Sasakawa Peace Foundation is pleased invited Dr. David Shambaugh, Professor, the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, on the theme of "US-China Relations: Managing Cooperation & Competition" in Tokyo on January 23rd, 2013.
The relationship between the United States and China today, is the most important one in the Asia-Pacific region, if not in the world. War, peace, stability, growth, and common approaches to multilateral challenges all involve the United States and China. The relationship is also central for Japan's future. In this lecture, Professor David Shambaugh of George Washington University, explored the background, current condition, and future prospects for the US-China relationship.

Professor Shambaugh is an internationally recognized authority and author on contemporary China and the international relations of Asia. He is presently Professor of Political Science & International Affairs and the founding Director of the China Policy Program in the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. He is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow in the Foreign Policy Studies Program and Center for Northeast Asian Policy Studies at The Brookings Institution.
