Applying for grants

Application Procedure

SPAF invites the submission of new and innovative proposals for its review. Applications may be submitted in letter format and should include the following:

1) An outline of the project objectives
2) An implementation plan
3) An itemized budget plan
4) A description of the applying organization

Please note that grant-making agreements are made, and renewed, on an annual basis. Grants themselves however, may cover a period of up to three years. Although no submission deadline has been set, it would be convenient if proposals are submitted in accordance with SPAF's annual schedule, as follows:

1) Projects normally commence in either April or July of the following year, so proposals should be submitted by no later than the end of September.
2) For projects to commence in either September or December, proposals should be submitted by the end of March of the same year.

Please note that all projects must be completed by the end of March, which is the end of the Japanese fiscal year.

Upon completing our evaluation of a submitted proposal, SPAF will notify the applying organization of the results. If deemed necessary in conducting our evaluation, additional information regarding the proposal may be requested.
