The purpose of this project was to develop Myanmar's human resources in the fields of international relations and security studies through training and an intensive lecture series on modern international relations, security, and geopolitical and strategic studies. From August 10 to 27, six people involved in international relations and security in Myanmar undertook training in Malaysia consisting chiefly of lectures by Malaysian security experts and visits to Ministry of Defense facilities. The lecturers also included Major Daisaku Sakaguchi of the Japan Ground Self- Defense Force Staff College. In late September five security experts, four from Malaysia and one from the Japan Institute of International Affairs, visited Yangon, where they presented an intensive lecture series at the officer training school, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and elsewhere.
