Human Resource Development for Industrial Research in Myanmar

This project, conducted by six instructors from Japan together with representatives of the Yangon Institute of Economics, aims to develop young researchers in the fields of industry surveys and marketing in Myanmar. This year, 10 people-five MBA candidates from the Yangon Institute of Economics and five young researchers from private-sector companies-received training in Myanmar's industrial policy and in business surveys and data analysis regarding manufacturing and the market for domestic products. Reports on the status of Myanmar's industrial policy and survey projects were followed by lectures on business surveys and data analysis.The Japanese instructors included Minoru Kiryu, a professor at Osaka Sangyo University and representative of the Myanmar Economic and Management Institute, the grant recipient, as well as engineers, smaller enterprise consultants, and other experts. There were also four Myanmarese instructors, including Dr. Daw Nu Nu Yin, a professor in the Yangon Institute of Economics MBA program, as chief advisor.
