-from A Strategy for Regional Cooperation in Myanmar and Cambodia: The Role of ASEAN and Japan project conducted by the Sasakawa Southeast Asia Cooperation Fund from 1998 to 1999
The Research Institute for Peace and Security conducted a two-year Myanmar-Cambodia Research Project, sponsored by the Sasakawa Southeast Asia Cooperation Fund, from 1998 to 1999. The project's five core members made two fact-finding trips to Cambodia and Myanmar from August 19 to 29, 1998 and from August 16 to 25, 1999. An interim report based on the 1998 fact-finding trip was issued by the Institute under the title ﾒMyanmar, Cambodia and the Asian Crisis: Challenges of ASEAN Membershipﾓ, in March 1999. This final report summarizes the two-year research and focuses on the 1999 fact-finding trip.
