Central Asia and South Caucasus Affairs: 2002
|
Edited by Boris Rumer and Lau Sim Yee
This book is a collection of essays that came out of a multi-year project
sponsored by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and embraces the decade of
transition in post-Soviet Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Written
primarily by scholars from the regions, the essays encompass a variety of
important issues facing the countries in Central Asia and the South
Caucasus, from WTO membership, foreign investment and trade, to economic
reform. Fundamental changes to the geopolitical environment of these
regions after 11 September 2001 are also examined. Substantial differences
of opinion between the contributors to this volume can be seen in a number
of essays, providing the reader with a fuller insight into the complex
nature of issues emerging in the region.
