Research on Comprehensive Security in Northeast Asia

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation, General Research Institute: Seigakuin University (Japan), Institute for East Asian Studies (South Korea)
Leaders of Japan, China and South Korea agreed to strengthen cooperation in various areas including economy, security, science and culture and environment in their ASEAN+3 summit talk in October 2003, but trilateral security dialogue so far has not been fully institutionalized yet. This project forms a private-level joint-study group (or Core Group) by three countries to cover security issues. In a bid to explore measures to resolve security issues in Northeast Asia, it will conduct an attitude survey about comprehensive security in respective country with a total of 90 respondents, consisting of 30 specialists from each country such as policymakers, scholars and researchers.
The following activities are planned this year.
(Self-operated and Commissioned Project)
To support Japanese Core Group, secretarial tasks which need to be fulfilled in the context of project execution, including paperwork and shipping associated with survey, liaising with Core Group members, etc. shall be commissioned to Seigakuin University.
