Developing Business Cases for an MBA Course in Vietnam

The objective of this project is to develop business cases that incorporate current operating environment and actual state of affairs for enterprises in Vietnam for use as educational materials in an MBA program, thereby contributing to the reinforcement of MBA pedagogy as a part of the countryfs higher education. More specifically, thirty business cases covering such areas as agriculture, manufacturing and services will be developed as MBA course materials in University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi Agricultural University

The following activities will be implemented this year.
- Development of Business Cases (April 2007-February 2008)
Teachers and postgraduates of University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City, will be divided into six teams to build 12 cases according to the flow described below.
(1) Survey will be conducted to grasp the status quo of target enterprises.
(2) Information about corporate management as well as statistical data will be gathered and analyzed.
(3) Cases will be developed under the guidance of project advisors.
- Workshops (May and October 2007, University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi Agricultural University
)
Cooperating with business administration specialists in Japan, South Korea and Singapore, two workshops will be organized to facilitate an instruction on case development. Drafts will be modified in line with counsel received from project advisors in these workshops.
- Study Tours (December 2007, 7 days each; Japan, South Korea and Singapore)
To gain deeper insights into business case-based education, developers of business cases will be sent to leading East Asian nations to study.
- Commission to Hanoi Agricultural University
(May 2007-February 2008)
The University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City will commission Hanoi Agricultural University
to handle step 1 to 3 described above for two case development in agricultural field.
