Promotion of Overseas Nonprofit Activities in Slovakia and Hungary

6,600,000 yen [Grant Project]
Pontis Foundation (Slovakia)

Central European countries become members of the donor group of international development as they join the EU and OECD. They are transferring their experience to countries that try to promote modernization and democratization. In this project, Slovakian and Hungarian NGOs will transfer their experience to less experienced NGOs in Central Europe and help them become international players in the international development activities.

In the last year of the 2-year project, the Pontis Foundation will commission parts of the project to the DemNet Foundation. Both foundations will conduct capacity building in Serbia and Montenegro to enable five Serbian and Montenegro NGOs to participate in cooperative and partnership projects with local governments and private enterprises. At the end of this project, the Serbian and Montenegro NGOs will compile their experiences and disseminate the results of the project.
  1. Seminar in Serbia
A 4-day seminar will be held with 10 invited representatives from private enterprises and local governments to discuss corporate philanthropy and treaties with local governments. Three Slovakian lecturers will lead the seminar.
  2. Training in Slovakia (6 days)
Representatives from five Serbian NGOs will visit Slovakia to discuss planning cooperative projects with foreign NGOs, and to receive training for the promotion of understanding of ODA schemes.
  3. Individual Consultation (twice per year)
Two representatives from collaborating Slovakian NGOs and staff from the Pontis Foundation will visit Serbia and conduct consultations, including advising and activity planning, with Serbian NGOs.
  4. Reporting
The Hungarian and Slovakian NGOs will compile reports and disseminate the results of the project.
