Russian diplomatic policy has focused on the US and Europe. However, Russia is beginning to show a positive stance toward Asia by regularly attending top ASEAN meetings and expressing its will to participate in an East Asia Summit, and the Russian presence in the Pacific area is attracting attention. However, there are very few researchers who study Russia and Japan, or Russia and Asia relations.
