Supporting Journalism in Asia/Phase II

Outreach activities from Asia are not active as Western media at a time when the political and economical importance of Asia have been increasing. The project aims to change the current situations of Asian outreach activities and strengthen Asian journalist networks.

This yearfs activities will be as follows.
  1. Asia Journalist Forum (Bangkok, January, 2007)
    About 20 young journalists with more than 3 years of experience will be invited to the forum from East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East to share information and experience. Management of the forum will be commissioned to MCOT.

  2. Strengthening of Asian outreach activities (Commissioned to Y21)
    (1) Continued management of weekly web news, Asiaviews.
    Asian regional news will be released on the web by member organizations.
    (2) Collaboration with SPF on a monthly Asiaviews magazine
    SPF-relevant articles will appear in the monthly magazine. The articles will include reviews of interviews at Asian Voices seminars and gTHE LEADERSh (about 4 pages), articles from SPF grantees (1 page), and opinions of Asian philosophers, experts, and journalists (1 page). The Asia Journalist Forum and Asiaviews on the web will be conducted in cooperation with Professor Isami Takeda of Dokkyo University.
