Promoting Exchanges between Non-Governmental Organizations at Local Level of Japan and Vietnam

The project is part of the exchange program between Vietnam and Japan at the local level, and aims to promote continuous and voluntary exchanges and collaborations among non-profit sectors of Japan and Vietnam by providing relevant people with opportunities for sharing experience and exchanging opinions in areas of common interest. Over a period of two and half years, the project will provide various exchange activities including experience sharing seminars (Vietnam) and site visits (Japan) on the development of local areas and the provision of public services by non-profit sectors to promote mutual understanding and the formation of human networks among the non-profit sectors of Japan and Vietnam.
Activities of the first year will be as follows.
  1. Coordination meeting and Preparation for the Project.
    (1) Coordination meeting (Hanoi, October, 2006)
    A coordination meeting will be held with VPDF and relevant people in the target area in Vietnam (15 to 20 participants) to discuss the directions of the activities and activity plans.
    (2) Preparations for the project. (October to December, 2006)
    Based on the results of the coordination meeting, preparations, including the selection of local participants for the project, will be conducted in cooperation with the Japanese participants..
  2. Seminars in Vietnam

    (1) Experience sharing seminars (Ha Tihn, Quang Nam, and Vinh Long, December, 2006) Participants in the seminars include representatives from the Japanese non-profit sector (8 people from Hiroshima Prefecture or Ehime Prefecture) and the Vietnamese non-profit sector, as well as local residents and government officers (Total 30 people). Discussion themes include the promotion of production and sales of organic agricultural products and improvements in living conditions and water decontamination through citizen participation.
    (2) Compilation of reports (January to March, 2007)
    Results of the activities and the next year's plans will be compiled as reports.
