Civilizational Dialogues among India, Iran and Japan

18,000,000 yen [Self-operated project]
The Sasakawa Peace Foundation

A lack of comprehension of and a prejudice toward Islamic civilization have been disturbing international reconciliation. At the same time, economic globalization based on western standards accelerates disparity between the haves and have nots, and threatens the co-existence of pluralistic values. Under these circumstances and based on the results of the past project, gCivilizational Dialogue: Promotion of Intellectual Exchange and Mutual Understanding in Asiah, the present project aims to provide a platform for dialogue in India, a country of great cultural and religious diversity, and Iran where the Shia comprise the major faction of Islam. Japan can play an effective role in coordination to promote the co-existence of pluralistic values through dialogue, because, historically, Japan has never experienced significant religious conflicts, and has been developing its unique culture while absorbing various foreign cultures. Results of the dialogues will be compiled as brochures and delivered to relevant people.
