8,100,000 yen [Grant Project]
Center for Civil Society Studies, Johns Hopkins University (USA)

  1. Asian Regional Conference and Feasibility Study: April 2005 to March 2006

A regional conference will be held between April and June in Bangkok with the aim of deepening the understanding of NPI satellite accounts among employees of government statistics agencies and researchers in Asia, as well as explain the purpose of the handbook and facilitate discussions on the relationship between NPI satellite accounts and economic statistics systems in each country. Following up on the regional meeting, the program will also investigate the feasibility of establishing NPI satellite accounts in each country in the region, and select (5 to 6) countries to support in the upcoming year.

  2. Establishment of Implementation Systems in each of the target countries:(July 2005 to March 2006)

A meeting will be held, with a grant from SPF-USA, in order to inform government officials of detailed plans the program has for supporting the establishment of implementation systems in their countries. The project will also follow up on the survey conducted with SPF funding in fiscal 2003 and 2004 by sharing information with people working with NPI satellite accounts as well as organizing meetings with government officials. Furthermore, related information/reference materials will be made available on the web.
