Voices from West Asia : Promoting Dialogue and Mutual Effort within and from the Region

5,800,000 yen [Grant Project]
Royal Scientific Society, Jordan

SPF has been supporting the efforts of Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan towards the construction of an international platform for dialogue among concerned West Asian personnel on the future of the Middle East; the maintenance of informal channels among conflicting countries is becoming more and more important as the chances for the development of peace in the Middle East rise.

This project aims to create a West Asian civilian network by recruiting civilian leaders as members of the pre-existing human network constructed during the implementation of the former project, whose members are mostly government officials from the Middle East, Northern Africa, and Southwest Asia, and send messages, including peace proposals and proposal for racial reconciliation from the West Asian civilian viewpoint.

This yearfs plans include the establishment of implementation structures, and preparation for workshops and publications to deepen mutual understanding within Islamic world concerning the Israel-Palestine relationship, and international terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism.

(First year of a 2-year project)
