The general meeting of Forum 2000 together with the Shared Concern Initiative (SCI) meeting for the management of the general meeting will be held in Prague on October 9 and 10, 2005. The general meeting will be open to the public; 500 to 600 persons are expected to attend.

SCI members including VaLclav Havel, former President of the Czech Republic, H.R.H. El Hassan bin Talal, H.H. the Dalai Lama, Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, President of the Nippon Foundation, Mr. Desmond Tutu, Anglican Archbishop of South Africa, Dr. Richard von WeiszsaNcker, former President of Germany, Mr. James Woolsey, former Director of the CIA, Mr. Boutrous Boutrous-Ghali, former Secretary General of the UN, and others. The total number of participants will be 20.
- Concepts of the general meeting
The main theme of the general meeting will be gChallenges and Hopes for Civilization in the 21st Century h, and origins of and effective solutions to conflicts in religion caused by religious extremists, and the impact of the media in the reporting of world struggles will be discussed in three sessions:gClash of Civilizations? Where are we?h, gConcepts of Coexistence between Europe, USA and the Rest of the Worldh, and gConflict of Perceptions: the role of the media in intercultural and inter-religious conflictsh.
- Publicity
Minutes of the general meeting will be prepared. The results of the general meeting will be discussed and proposals will be prepared by SCI members. A summary of the general meeting and proposals will be transmitted to world leaders and international organizations; they will also be transmitted through SCI members to national governments, international organizations, and the media.
SPF will strengthen the linkage of the project with other SPF publicity programs to increase participants from Japan and Asian countries, and publicize the meeting.
