Promotion of Overseas Nonprofit Activities in Slovakia and Hungary

This year the Pontis Foundation and Slovakian/Hungarian NGOs will provide five NGOs operating in small and medium sized communities in central Serbia with guidance on how to develop practical action plans and work with local governments.
Details of activities are as follows:
  1. Seminar (May and September 2005. Three instructors, ten participants. In central Serbia):
    A seminar will be held with the aim of helping participants better understand the roles of nonprofit organizations within regional communities as well as promoting corporate philanthropy and collaboration with local governments.

  2. Training in Slovakia (June 2005: Ten participants):
    Representatives from Serbian NGOs will be sent to Slovakia and Hungary for a week each to visit NGOs working in the same field or towards the same goals to learn from their activities. In addition, a working group meeting will be held with the aim of providing NGOs in Slovakia and Hungary interested in carrying out overseas assistance with information on fundraising. (Training in Hungary will be funded by the Open Society Institute.)

  3. Consultation (May 2005 to Feb. 2006):
    Two representatives from the Pontis Foundation and NGOs such as DemNet will visit Serbia four times to provide individual guidance to the NGOs.

  4. Work commissioned to DemNet:
    DemNet will be commissioned to organize the abovementioned seminar and training program in Hungary.
