Japan Visit Program for City Mayors

Mayors and deputy Mayors from the Huanan area will visit Japan and exchange opinions about economic development in local cities with Japanese local government officers. The visit aims to provide opportunities for Chinese Mayors and deputy Mayors to improve their administration skills, thus contributing to development in the Huanan area.

  1. Participants: Ten participants, including Mayors and deputy Mayors in charge of economic development, and CAIFC staff.
  2. Preparatory meeting: A preparatory meeting will be held for the participants in Beijing.
  3. Japan Visit: Visiting Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyushu for 8 days.
    (1) Workshop: A workshop will be held in Tokyo with invited experts in the management of local governments and local development
    (2) Site visits: The participants will visit central and regional (Osaka and Kagoshima) government offices and exchange opinions about their experiences and success with regional development.
    (3) Informal gatherings: Informal gatherings will be held in Tokyo and Osaka so that the Chinese and Japanese government officials can get to know each other.
    (4) Fact finding tour: The participants will visit central and regional government offices and discuss regional development with relevant officials.
  4. Summary Meeting: A summary meeting will be held in Beijing to review the visit to Japan.
  5. Compilation and distribution of a report A report will be compiled and distributed to relevant departments and organizations.
