SPF Program Agenda(2004)

Capacity Building and Promotion of   Exchange of Central Eurasian Young Leaders

The following self-operated/commissioned activities will be carried out in 2005.
  1. Eleventh SPF Issyk-Kul Forum (Self-operated project, early November, 2005)
    (1) Expert meeting
    An expert meeting will be held with about 30 invited researchers from Central Eurasian countries (Central Asia, Caucasus, Turkey, Russia, etc) and Asian countries (Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Singapore, etc) in Goa, India.
    (2) Subjects
    Subjects will include the effects of US unilateralism, the rise of China, and the revitalization of Russia on the politics of Eurasian countries, trends in domestic politics, regional collaboration between the countries, strengthening of national security, and integration into the international economy.
    (3) Integration with other SPF programs
    Results of the Central Asia and Caucasus programs will be reported and discussed at the meeting to integrate the Central Asia and Caucasus programs with the Eurasian programs, and strengthen links between Central Eurasia and East Asia.
    (4) Continuity
    The Eurasia programs will be evaluated and the continuity of the program will also be discussed at the meeting.
  2. Japanese specialists and practitioners will be sent to the EastWest Institute to give lectures on economic cooperation, international politics, security, and policy research as a part of a training course to strengthen links between EWI and SPF.
  3. Grant program
    The grant program is commissioned to EWI. Please refer to the Central Eurasian Leadership Alliance for information on our grant project at the EastWest Institute.
