Strengthening the Macroeconomic Forecasting Capability of Azerbaijan

8,100,000 yen [Grant project]
Center for Economic and Business Research and Education, Khazar UniversityiCEBRE, Azerbaijanj

Macro-economic trend analysis and predictions of economic activities are not well practiced in Azerbaijan, which attained independence 15 years ago. Economic monitoring by the government does not reflect the real economy of Azerbaijan. It is essential to foster non-government economic experts to grasp a non-biased view of the real economy.

The project aims to strengthen the economic research capacity of Azerbaijan by providing researchers in Khazar University and other non-government institutes with East Asian experience, and supporting activities such as the collection of basic economic data, the analysis of macroeconomic trends, and the development of economic prediction models to suit the Azerbaijan economy. This yearfs activities include the organization of economic prediction workshops with Malaysian experts, economic observations based on surveys of enterprises and the home economy, and basic studies on the construction of economy prediction models. The results will be compiled as a report.
