The following activities will be conducted in the first year of a 3-year project. A two-week long workshop will be held for young policy planners from Georgian Government agencies and NGOs. As part of other self-operated projects, SPF will dispatch experts from East Asian countries to help with the project. The following preparation and training will be expected:
  1. Selection of Participants (August, 2005)
The selection of participants will be made by documentary elimination and individual interviews with candidates in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. GFSIS will interview Armenian and Azerbaijan candidates on-site.
  2. Training of Policy Planners (October 2005, at GFSIS)
Fifteen selected participants (5 persons from each country) will receive training in South Caucasus security issues and developmental experience in East Asia.
  3. The First Follow-Up Seminar (October 2005, expecting 45 participants at GFSIS)
A Follow-Up Seminar will be held inviting 30 personnel who participated in Phase I (2003-2004) of the project and 15 personnel involved in the present project. At the seminar, experts from Southeast Asia will give lectures about ASEAN as a model of the Asia Community, and researchers from GRSIS will lecture on cooperation and security within regions and between regions. The interchange of opinions and confidence-building will be promoted through the seminar.
