Capacity Building to Enhance the legal Environment of the Nonprofit Sector in Vietnam

This year is the first of a 3-year project and the following activities are planned.
- Study of NPO laws
Details of the study subjects will be determined in cooperation with the legislation committee .The study items will be as follows.
(1) Contents of NPO laws in other countries
(2) Case study on the cooperation of government with NPOs in the legislation of NPO laws in a specific country
(3) Historical background and reality of the Vietnamese non-profit sector
About 6 study reports will be compiled during the year, regular meetings (6 times a year) will be held, and a year end seminar will be held to share the
study results. Approximately 20 to 30 participants are expected.
- Education and strengthening the research functions of the legislation committee
(1) Overseas fact-finding tour (October, 2005): Delegates consisting of high level members of the legislation committee will visit Japan, the US, or China.
(2) Network of experts outside the legislation committee: the construction of an expert network will start by selecting candidate experts, identifying necessary activities, and exchanging information among members. Meetings with relevant personnel and seminars will also be held.
