Capacity Building for East Timor in ASEAN/AFTA

This year, a workshop on trade and finance liberation under global systems will be held based on the first year's results that focused on the integration of regional economies. Five people will be selected from among the workshop attendees and visit Brunei for study. The workshop will be a part of a collaboration with East Timor's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Details of the activities planned this year are as follows.
  1. Preparatory Meeting (April, 2005)
    Representatives of MIER will visit East Timor and discuss plans and schedules with relevant personnel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  2. Workshop (three days in July, 2005 in Dili )
    (1) Participants: thirty middle level administrative officials will be selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
    (2) Instructors: Four experts from MIER
  3. Brunei visit ( One week in the period between August and November, 2005 )
    Five representatives will be selected from among the participants in the workshop conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They will visit Brunei to study the roles of governments and learn how to achieve an effective entry into the international economy.
  4. Compilation of report (February, 2006)
    To disseminate the results of the workshop, a report will be compiled and distributed to relevant personnel as a reference book.
