Research Capacity Building of Agricultural Economics in Vietnamese Universities

The following activities are planned.
  1. Joint survey/research and compilation of results (April to December, 2005)
    Hanoi Agricultural University will conduct surveys in the Red River Delta. Can Tho University will cover the Mekong Delta and Ton Duc Thang University will cover the southeastern region of Vietnam. The Pricing Committee will cover the western plains of Vietnam. Research will focus on two types of agricultural commodities with the highest comparative advantage in each region. The results of the 3 year project will be compiled.
  2. Meeting to report the research results (two days in May, 2005, Hanoi)
    A meeting to report the results will be held in Hanoi. Subjects and contents for the international workshop will also be discussed at the meeting.
  3. International Workshop (August, 2005, Ho Chi Minh City)
    An international workshop will be held in Ho Chi Minh city to report and evaluate the research results with 3 invited Japanese and Philippine researchers and approximately 30 experts from Vietnam.
  4. Publication of research and analysis of comparative advantages in agricultural products (December 2005 to February 2006) Five hundred copies of the research report on the comparative advantages of agricultural products studied by quantitative analysis will be published as a summary report for the 3 year project.
  5. Dissemination of the research results
    The research results will be disseminated to Vietnamese universities and research institutes.
  6. Training course for researchers from universities and research institutes (December 2005 to February 2006)
    A training course for researchers from Vietnamese universities and research institutes will be held for 4 days from December 2005 to February 2006 in Hanoi
