Supporting Journalism in Asia

The plans for the third year of the 3-year project are as follows.
- Asia Journalist Forum (January, 2006, Bangkok)
(1) An Asia Journalist Forum will be held in cooperation with Professor Isami Takeda of Dokkyo University.
(2) Management
The management of the forum will be commissioned to MCOT. The forum will be held to share experience and information with approximately 20 young journalists with more than 3 years of experience in East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and Middle East invited to participate. The theme will be gMedia, Democracy and Human Rightsh.
- Upgrading the Asian information transmission infrastructure:
Yayasan 21 Juni 1994 of Indonesia will play a central role in conducting the following activities.
(1) Continuation of the operation of the website "Asia Views", which was created last year. New articles will be posted on the site every other week.
(2) Implementation organizations will continue to work closely with web site business partners, such as Tempo of Indonesia, Today of Singapore, Newsbreak of the Philippines, The Nation of Thailand, and Business of Malaysia. The Regional Editing Group (REG) will continue to manage the editing meeting.
(3) Asia Views Monthly
Asia Views Monthly will tentatively be published, and the feasibility of publication will be studied. Two hundred copies of the journal will be distributed through collaboration with newspapers and publishing companies.
