Civilizational Dialogues among India, Iran and Japan

10,000,000 yen [Self-operated project]
The Sasakawa Peace Foundation

Biased views and a lack of understanding of Islamic civilization have hampered the reconciliation of international society following 9/11, and economic globalization based on western standards enhances the disparity between rich and poor countries, thus threatening the coexistence of pluralistic values. Under these circumstances, it is essential to promote dialogue between civilizations to improve the present situation.

Based on experience gained in the latest project, gCivilizational Dialogue: Promotion of Intellectual Exchange and Mutual Understanding in Asiah, this yearfs project will provide a platform for dialogue between Japan, India and Iran to promote mutual understanding of the coexistence of pluralistic values, taking into consideration Indiafs diversity, Iranfs Shia, and the unique experience of Japan that has absorbed different cultures without severe religious conflict. This year, the project will organize two international conferences, gDialogue between India and Japanh and gDialogue between Iran and Japanh, to deepen the dialogue and strengthen the human network. Results of the dialogues will be published and delivered to relevant people.

(First year of a 2-year project)
