Toward a Better Legal Framework for Public Benefit Organizations

The project will undertake the following activities related to the reform of public service corporations.
- Theoretical Research (April to December 2004)
Tax law researchers and other members from the non-governmental sector will undertake theoretical research on issues related to the reform of public service corporations. The project will hold a workshop on this topic, inviting experts from the UK for the purpose of comparing the Japanese system to those in other countries and experts from the US to discuss tax laws.
- Policy Proposals (From April 2004 onwards)
The results of the discussions on the above issues will be publicized on the project's website. The project will also call for opinions from a wide range of people, and compile these ideas into a report and distribute it to government officials, Diet members, the media, and other professionals.
- Press Campaign(April to July 2004)
Report/Discussion Meeting:The project will organize a meeting aimed at public service corporations, NPOs, and the general public. Government officials and committee members and government tax examiners will be invited to report and discuss recent developments within the government and project on a nationwide scale.
