Conference on "Local City Mobilization Measures": Case Studies of Images of Japanese and Chinese Cities

An international conference will be held on the theme "creating images for cities and revitalizing provincial cities."
The aim of the conference will be for Chinese and Japanese local government officials and experts to share their expertise on ﾔcreating imagesﾕ for cities. The conference will be organized with the cooperation of the Information Office of the State Council and School of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University.
- Preparatory meeting: To be held in Beijing in September

Date: Three days in November 2004
Participants: At total of 100 participants including government officials from provincial cities in Japan and China, the State Council, central government agencies, as well as Japanese/Chinese specialists, and members of the media.
- Presentation of case studies based by specialists will be followed by a question and answer session. The Japanese presenters will introduce case examples of companies and provincial governments working together on 'image creation' for cities and the Chinese presenters will introduce examples where provincial cities were revitalized through an ﾔimage creationﾕ strategy that emphasized individuality and uniqueness.
- Dissemination: The content of the conference will be widely reported through
mainstream media such as newspapers and television.
- Compilation of a project report: Reports will be compiled in both Japanese and Chinese and shared with related individuals and agencies.
