Towards Strengthened Regional Cooperation in Asia

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Research and Information System for the Non-aligned and Other Developing Countries(India)


The following activities will be conducted in 2004 as self-operated/grant projects.
  1. Self-operated project:
    The project will invite Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Senior Economist of the Asian Development Bank as project advisor, and will conduct the following research aimed at the realization of an Asian Economic Community.
    • The role of Japan and India in regional cooperation in South Asia
    • The role of Japan and India in promoting cooperation within the Indian Ocean Rim Economic Bloc
    • The role of Japan and India in strengthening cooperation between South Asia, ASEAN and Japan
    • Revisiting Japan's Asia policy, particularly toward India and China

  2. Grant project:
    Towards and Asian Economic Community: The Way Forward, Research and nformation System for the Non-aligned and Other Developing Countries

    The project will conduct policy research and awareness-raising/information dissemination activities on issues such as trade, investment, finance, currency, energy and technology transfer, which are vital to establishing an Asian Economic Community as a comprehensive cooperative framework for Asia.
