Role of Mongolia for Peaceful and Stable Development of Northeast Asia/ Phase II

The following activities are scheduled for 2004.
  1. Seminar in Mongolia (August 2004 in Ulan Bator):
    A seminar will be held in Mongolia to share the results of last year's experts meeting and study tour with senior government officials and politicians. The seminar will provide a forum for discussion on policy formulation for promoting trade and investment between Northeast Asian countries such as Mongolia, China, Russia, and Northeast Asia. The seminar in 2004 will focus particularly on measures for revitalizing Mongolia's mining and tourism industries.

  2. Study tour to Malaysia and Singapore (November 2004):
    A team of four Mongolian specialists will visit research institutions in Malaysia and Singapore, where regional economic cooperation is making steady progress, to engage in discussions regarding mechanisms of regional cooperation and strategies for promoting trade and investment.

  3. International Conference (Feb. 2005 in Ulan Bator):
    An international conference aimed at formulating strategies for the development of Mongolia and mechanisms for regional economic cooperation will be held inviting politicians, researchers, and NGO members from Mongolia and experts on the Mongolian economy from Japan, China, Russia, South Korea, and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Mongolia Development Research Center will formulate mid-term policy proposals and make a progress report on the project available on the web.

  4. Japanese researcher to join the Mongolian Development Research Center:
    As a part of efforts to nurture young Japanese researchers of Mongolia, one Japanese researcher will be sent to work at the Mongolian Development Research Center.
