Capacity Building for East Timor in ASEAN/AFTA

This year a workshop will be held in Dili inviting about thirty economic policy officers selected with the cooperation of East Timor's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Five outstanding workshop participants will be chosen to go on a training tour to Malaysia. Details are as follows:

  1. Workshop(Three days in July 2004 with 30 participants)
    Theme: Regional Economic Integration and East Timor
    Content: The conference will comprise the following three sessions:
    (1) Theories of Regional Economic Integration
    (2) Trends in economic integration in various regions and ASEAN/AFTA
    (3) East Timor's potential and choices
    Lecturer: Four specialists from The Malaysian Institute of Economic Research

  2. Training tour to Malaysia (One week in November 2004)
    Five outstanding students will be selected to go on a training tour to Malaysia to learn about the important role of the government in achieving efficient entry into regional economies.

  3. Report Compilation(February 2005)
    A report will be compiled and a hundred copies will be distributed in order to communicate the content of the workshop to people that did not attend the workshop.
