Research Capacity Building of Economics in National University of Laos

  1. Short-term training course (July 2004):
    About twenty people will be invited to participate in a one-week training course in Vientiane on econometric analysis theory and application that covers topics such as statistical methods and the use of computer software. The trainees will be divided into four research teams and each team will select a research topic and make preparations for their research.

  2. Overseas training (August 2004)
    One person will be selected from each of the four teams to receive training in Manila and Bangkok over a two-week period. Two people will conduct research of economics literature and the other two will conduct research on business administration under the supervision of selected advisors.

  3. Implementation of experimental studies and compilation of papers (Sep. to Dec. 2004)
    Each of the research teams will conduct experimental studies based on the results of the above research. The advisors will visit Vientiane and provide guidance once the research data is ready to be analysed.

  4. Workshop for presenting research results (January 2005):
    A workshop will be held in Vientiane to discuss and evaluate the results of each of the research projects. After the papers are revised and edited following the workshop, they will be published in a periodical released by the Faculty of Economics and Management at the National University of Laos.
