Research Capacity Building of Agricultural Economics in Vietnamese Universities

The following activities are scheduled this year.

  1. Joint survey/research (continued from last year until May 2004)
    Hanoi Agricultural University will conduct surveys in the Red River Delta, Can Tho University will cover the Mekong Delta, Ton Duc Thang University will cover the south eastern region of Vietnam, and the Pricing Committee will cover the Western plains of Vietnam. Research will focus on two types of agricultural commodities with the highest comparative advantage in each region.

  2. Analysis of research data (June to December 2004):
    Input, processing and analysis of the above data will be conducted.

  3. Meeting between Vietnam researchers (Two days in June 2004 in Hanoi):
    A seminar will be held to discuss the results of the survey and analysis, as well as decide on which aspects of the research to get help from foreign researchers.

  4. International Workshop (Two days in August 2004 in Hanoi):
    An international workshop will be held inviting a total of three researchers from Japan and the Philippines to discuss econometric analysis in agricultural economics.

  5. 5. Compilation and publication of a textbook on research methodology (October 2004 to January 2005):
    Drawing from the discussions at the international workshop, a textbook on research methodology will be compiled and published. wing from the discussions at the international workshop, with the aim of enhancing research on agricultural economics.

  6. 6. Compilation of a mid-term report on the research (January to March 2005):
    Mid-term reports on survey research conducted by each of the universities will be compiled and the research plan for the following year will be finalized.
